Personal finance and the financial literacy crisis have become quite the topics over the last few years. We hear about the lack of financial literacy in the news and on social media. It\’s something that is being discussed in schools, businesses, and homes around the globe!
The bottom line is financial literacy is something we all need and it’s never too early to start! Parents want to do better personally with their finances plus give their kids the tools they need to be independent and financially secure adults. However, many don’t know where to turn to learn the basics.
Survey Of The States
Every two years, the Council for Economic Education (CEE) takes a look at how states are doing in providing economic and financial education to students in grades K-12. The 2022 data collected from all 50 states, and the District of Columbia, showed that although personal finance is making a slow but steady increase, we are still at risk. Also, equity of access remains to be an issue. According to CEE, “There is still work to be done to ensure that that teaching—and the resources that support that teaching—reflects the wide variety of students’ cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic situations, and life goals.”
Our Mission
NuMoola’s mission is to provide a family banking app that focuses on financial inclusion by helping young families of all socioeconomic backgrounds understand how the financial decisions they make impact their bottom line. Our goal is to make financial literacy easily accessible to all individuals and we accomplish this through our app.
NuMoola is helping solve the financial literacy crisis because we believe that financial literacy is a building block in life that is not thoroughly discussed and mastered in schools or at home. We have learned through our efforts that kids have the best opportunity for a positive financial future when they learn these skills at a young age and if parents and the community are supporting their journey! To help make an impact and further our mission, fill out this 30-second survey.
Meeting Families Where They Are
We understand that life is busy! NuMoola makes family finance easy by meeting young families where they are when it comes to engagement—on their mobile devices. Did you know that over 83% of people in the world own a smartphone? Specifically, 76% of low to moderate-income individuals own a smartphone or a tablet. These numbers are estimated to continue to increase over the next few years. NuMoola provides easy access to financial literacy for kids and parents while allowing them to apply the skills learned on a device that most have!
In addition to the app, NuMoola has an Amazon Alexa skill! We work alongside the Amazon Alexa team to use their voice technology as a foundational teaching tool. According to reports, there are 40 million Alexa users in the US alone. Voice technology is becoming a part of day-to-day life and is an important part of the family dynamic that fosters positive family social and emotional connections. Download our app and the Amazon Alexa skill to join in on the fun.
